Clips ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services.

Information We Collect

Content You Save

When you use Clips to save articles, PDFs, or text, we store this content on our secure servers to provide our services. This includes:

  • URLs and webpage content you share to the app
  • Text and documents you clip
  • AI-generated summaries and extracted tasks
  • Collections and organizational metadata

Account Information

To create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Authentication credentials (securely hashed)
  • Optional profile information you choose to provide

Usage Analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data to improve our product. This includes:

  • Feature usage patterns
  • App performance metrics
  • Error reports and crash data

We respect the Do Not Track setting in your browser and device.

AI Processing and Third-Party Services

Clips uses OpenAI's API to analyze your saved content and extract insights. Here's what you should know:

  • Content is processed to generate summaries, key points, and actionable tasks
  • We use OpenAI's API for AI processing
  • Your content may be sent to OpenAI's servers for processing but is not used to train their models (per OpenAI's Business Terms)
  • OpenAI retains your data only as long as necessary to provide the service
  • You can delete your content at any time, which removes it from all systems

By using Clips, you consent to this processing. We use OpenAI's Business API which includes strict data privacy guarantees.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (EU Region), a trusted database provider. We implement:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Row-level security ensuring you can only access your own data
  • Regular security audits and monitoring
  • Secure authentication with industry-standard protocols

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase - Database and authentication (EU Hosted)
  • OpenAI - AI content analysis (US Based with Data Processing Agreement)
  • PostHog - Product analytics
  • Vercel - App hosting
  • Apple - App Store and payments

Each service has their own privacy policy governing their use of data.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access - Request a copy of your data
  • Delete - Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export - Download your clips and collections
  • Correct - Update or correct your information
  • Opt-out - Disable analytics tracking

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

  • Your clips and personal data are permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Anonymized analytics data may be retained for product improvement
  • Backup systems may retain encrypted copies for up to 90 days

Children's Privacy

Clips is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Posting the new policy on this page
  • Sending an email notification for significant changes
  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top
